Isabel Segura

A committed and highly knowledgably traveler, Isabel is an essential member of the Journey Mexico team with experience living and working across the country. Her expert and intimate knowledge of Mexico’s most popular locations makes her an invaluable resource for customers and the JM team alike.

Born in Tepic, she spent her formative years in beautiful Puerto Vallarta before moving to Guadalajara for college. After gaining her International Management in Tourism degree, she left the big city to work for the Viceroy Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen. A move to Journey Mexico in 2014 brought another change of scenery, this time to the hustle and bustle of Mexico City.

After a brief trip to Spain to gain a masters in Sustainable Tourism Destination and Regional Tourism Planning, she returned to Journey Mexico and her hometown of Puerto Vallarta. When she’s not crafting unforgettable, bespoke vacations for her clients, you might find her (like any true Puerto Vallarta native) relaxing on the beach.

Get to know Isabel better

To help you get to know Isabel better, we sat down and asked her five quickfire questions about Mexico. Here’s what she had to say…

Describe Mexico in three words
Colorful, multicultural, and surprising.

Where’s your favorite place in Mexico?
Playa el Requesón in Baja California; it’s magical, a virgin beach with nothing around but nature and sea, and an amazing place for stargazing and watching the moon rise.

Where would you next like to visit in Mexico?
Real de Catorce, San Luis Potosi; a small Pueblo Magico located in the mountain range of San Luis Potosi. Why? Because of its mysticism, nature, and its value as a sacred territory for the Huicholes.

What’s your favorite Mexican meal?
Tacos with a Mexican craft beer and mezcal.

How would you spend a dream day in Mexico?
I would wake up in one of the small Pueblos Magicos by the beach with mountains in the distance, and enjoy a freshly brewed coffee. I would spend the day by the sea with my dog, swimming in the water and hiking. In the afternoon, I would have a nice, fresh lunch in a local market then, at night, take my friends to a small bar with great craft beer and music.
