New Rosewood Puebla to Open 2016

Puebla will be home to Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ fourth Mexican property. Puebla is a UNESCO World Heritage City situated approximately 75 miles southeast of Mexico City and is known for its outstanding colonial architecture, traditional cuisine and colorful ceramics.  Expected to open in 2016, the hotel will be in a prime location near the city’s main square which is Puebla’s cultural, religious and political center.

Rosewood Puebla will be housed in a collection of buildings from different eras surrounding a picturesque courtyard where a 300-year-old chapel stands. The hotel will offer 79 guestrooms and suites, a restaurant, a rooftop bar and swimming pool with views of Iglesia de San Francisco, an outdoor courtyard seating, and their signature Sense® spa.

The city and people of Puebla are the primary source of inspiration for the hotel’s design, drawing from the art, history and architecture of the region. Traditional materials  will be incorporated into the building and throughout the property they will highlight talavera pottery along with  works from Mexican artists in a sophisticated blend of the traditional with the contemporary.

“Rosewood Puebla will be a wonderful complement to our existing Mexican properties,” says Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer, Rosewood Hotel Group. “Puebla is a living canvas and offers rich cultural, culinary and historic traditions in which guests will be able to immerse themselves.”
