Kayaking the Sea of Cortez – Sea-Kayaking expedition in the turquoise waters off the beautiful Island of Espiritu Santo where we will also enjoy guided walks and a visit sea lion colony at Los Islotes where we can swim and snorkel
Hiking in the Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere Reserve – Hike into the Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere reserve and experience the magic of cascading waterfalls in the spectacular cactus forests of this seldom visited desert wildernes.
Todos Santos – Explore the charming fishing village of full and try your hand at surfing at Los Cerritos beach
Day 1: Arrival to Todos Santos
Today is arrival day so there are no activities planned. The group transfer to charming colonial fishing village turned artist colony Todos Santos will be at 4:30 PM and takes approximately 1:30 hrs (private transfers are available upon request for an additional fee). Settle into your lovely boutique hotel along the rugged coast outside of Todos Santos. Stroll the beach and breathe in the desert air and the relaxed atmosphere of the real Baja California. Join other members of the group and meet your trip leader at 6:30 P.M. for dinner and adventure orientation at the historic Hotel California.
Day 2: Todos Santos
Meet early in courtyard and we’ll set out to explore the secluded coast line and pristine beaches surrounding the oasis town of Todos Santos. Our sea cliff hike takes us along miles of spectacular coastline with sweeping views of Baja’s stark and rugged beaches. After a beach picnic and perhaps a swim in the ocean, we’ll enjoy a walking tour of the fascinating oasis of Todos Santos and its long history as an important community in Baja California Sur.
Day 3: Todos Santos and Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere
Today we set out to explore the Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere reserve and we transfer to the trail head where we begin walking up the arroyo (river bed). The landscape changes as the cactus forest thickens and then unexpectedly we come to not one, not two, but three different waterfalls in the middle of the desert. Enjoy the opportunity to splash about and take pictures or just relax with a wonderful picnic lunch. We then travel from the interior to the beautiful crescent shaped beach of Los Cerritos for an opportunity to try our hand at surfing in the gentle Pacific rollers. Late afternoon we will return to our beautiful accommodation and night out at one of the many fantastic eateries in the town.
Day 4: Todos Santos
We have today free to explore the charming town, shop in the many interesting tiendas, crafts stores and jewelry shops or take advantage of options for horse back riding, a ceramics tour, or just relaxing. Tonight dinner is on your own. Take our recommendations for one of the fine restaurants in the city center, where you can enjoy some of the best Mexican cuisine on the peninsula.
Day 5: Todos Santos and La Paz
Transfer from your hotel in Todos Santos to La Paz and one of its many beautiful white sand beaches to relax, hike, and swim in the incredible translucent waters that ring the many secluded bays and beaches. Sea food delicacies and an ice cold drink on the edge of the water is a fine introduction to the Sea of Cortes. Early afternoon check in to our charming lodging in time for happy hour overlooking the beautiful Bay of La Paz. Dinner out on the town and briefing on our kayaking adventure to come.
Day 6: Espiritu Santo Island and the Sea of Cortes
Transfer to Espiritu SantoIsland in a high-speed motorboat. Your guide will discuss points on safety and provide beginners with the basics of sea-kayaking and correct use of gear and kayaks. We then embark paddling the turquoise waters of Espiritu SantoIsland beneath spectacular volcanic cliffs and arrive at one of many beautiful beaches to for a picnic lunch. After lunch and a natural history walk, we board our speedy launch and ride to a beautiful off-shore island which is home to a large sea lion colony. Prepare to experience the amazing thrill of swimming with sea lion pups and snorkel amongst thousands of tropical fish. We then return to our hotel in La Paz. Night out on the town for dinner and farewell fiesta!
Day 7: Departure to La Paz or Los Cabos
Transfer to La Paz airport or extend your stay. Transfers to Los Cabos Airport (shared or private) are also available at extra cost.
