Trip Description Price Trip Dates Detailed Itinerary
This trip takes in three different areas of the Yucatan Peninsula. It is ideal for active travelers wanting to combine archeological sites and colonial cities, with outdoors adventure, relaxing beaches and visits to local villages and colonial towns. |
 | Highlights Include:
Merida:
- The lively capital of the Yucatan is a charming colonial city filled with markets, squares and a bustling commercial center
- Visit local artisans and their famous hand-woven Yucatan Hammocks
- Sample regional cuisine with local Yucatan style
Mayan Civilization:
- Locally guided visits to the amazing archeological sites of Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Tulum, and Calakmul
- ½ day bike ride on the Ruta Puuc to seldom visited ruins, freshwater underground cenotes and centuries old haciendas where we will learn about the historic Henequen empire that thrived during the colonial era
- Explore small Mayan villages and marketplaces where Maya is still the native language.
Caribbean Sea:
- Kayaking in the mangroves of Sian Kaan is a fantastic way to explore this incredible biosphere reserve and experience the vibrant flora and fauna of this unique protected area, the largest in Mesoamerica!
- Enjoy strolls along the powdery white sand beaches and the spectacular Caribbean with ample time to swim, snorkel and optional SUCBA dives.
There are year round departures this season and each one is run independently of any other scheduled trip. Of course, we can still arrange custom made itineraries for family trips or groups of friends traveling together. Scuba diving, fishing, kayaking, and birding are all gaining in popularity in the area and can be easily arranged as an add on, or fully a formed trip.
