Hotel Matilda has 32 rooms and suites in five categories: Deluxe Rooms, Grand Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites, Luxury Suites and Owner’s Suites. All accommodations are luxuriously appointed with artistic touches, from fine 400-thread count linens and Mexican calcuta marble floors to art works by acclaimed Mexico City photographer Eduardo Zaylan. Most feature a balcony or terrace, while many boast panoramic views of San Miguel de Allende.

Restaurant Matilda’s contemporary international cuisine is a reinvention of traditional American, Continental and Latin American cooking blended with the latest culinary innovations and trends. Guests may dine in the dining room or outdoors on the patio overlooking lush gardens of indigenous flora and the wall of water flowing down from the infinity pool. Bar Matilda features premium brands, specialty spirits by artisanal producers, classic and original cocktails employing the latest in mixology, and a huge 82″ HD TV for the ultimate viewing of sports and other shows.

The Spa focuses on achieving total well-being through a collection of global and locally inspired treatments and integrated personal care experiences customized to individual needs and preferences. Set in an intimate, tranquil garden, the 4,700-square-foot spa has four treatment rooms including a couple’s room and a spa suite with a steam shower and soaking tub; two patios; an indoor/outdoor Relaxation Lounge with an indoor fireplace for pre- and post-treatment quiet time; and a fitness facility with cardio- and strength-training equipment.

• Matilda's Art Collection: Echoing and reinforcing the artistic soul of a town long known for its art schools that attract budding artists from many countries, Hotel Matilda houses a significant collection of works by acclaimed Mexican artists. The collection is anchored by permanent pieces but will be continuously refreshed with rotating works. Several cutting-edge Mexican artists were commissioned to create major pieces of art specifically for Hotel Matilda including: For a large interior wall, Bosco Sodi, who works with organic matter and color to create intangible energy and intense dialogue; for the boveda ceiling in the lounge, Aldo Chaparro, whose pieces focus on the visual relations between natural and artificial objects; and for behind the Front Desk, Nacho Rodriguez Bach, whose work is characterized by timelessness and the utilization of a diversity of media to explore the meaning of form and blur the lines between art and other disciplines. • Green Profile: Hotel Matilda has a truly green profile with photo-voltaic panels producing up to 30% of the electricity needs; solar panels heating water for guest rooms, the pool, and other uses; a lighting system that automatically dims and shuts off lights to reduce energy use; composting of organic waste and recycling of glass, plastic, paper and other inorganic waste; and sustainable bath amenities presented in large 32 oz. pump bottles that are refilled rather than small individual throwaway bottles.


• Indigenous Landscaping: The landscaping echoes the local topography, and complements the green ecological profile, by only using plants indigenous to the region. The diverse plantings of common and rare species creates a natural array of colors and textures, both canopies and lower gardens, and varying scents through the seasons of the year.


• Meetings & Events: A beautifully appointed Boardroom (105 sq. ft.) can accommodate eight attendees and features Wifi, 37” flat-screen HD TV, conference call capabilities, and a bilingual (English/Spanish) executive assistant. For events, Restaurant Matilda (1,110 sq. ft.) can accommodate up to 100 persons, the restaurant terrace (880 sq.ft.) up to 80, Bar Matilda (465 sq. ft.) a maximum of 50, and the bar terrace (360 sq. ft.) as many as 30.
