Architecture

Mexican architecture defies time with pre-Hispanic structures that stand in the ancient ruins we visit today through out Mexico, the colonial facades in the Mexican Heartland and the modern buildings of well-known architects such as Luis Barragan.  Even in the smallest of “pueblos”, local churches, storefronts, and homes reflect the transformation of the face of Mexico over the generations.  In many towns, ancient pyramid architecture blends with the tiled domes of colonial monasteries and churches while in the bigger cities modern architects combine local traditions with the sleekness of contemporary building to create the present-day face of Mexico’s urban centers.

Below is a video highlighting the breathtaking architecture of Guanajuato, part of The Colonial Heartland.
