Day 1

Welcome to Mexico! - Arrive Merida on own schedule – You will be greeted at the airport and privately transferred (:45 mins) to your lovely lodging in a historic hacienda. Today is arrival day and at your leisure should you arrive early. You will meet your tour director at 6PM for a welcome cocktail and orientation over your welcome dinner. Hacienda Temozon: ROH, 3 nights, Welcome Cocktail and Dinner Included

Day 2

Uxmal – Maya Family – Scavenger Hunt - After a hearty breakfast, we will be one of the first to enter the famed Maya ball courts and temples of Uxmal; once again under the tutelage of our expert guide we will marvel at the achievements and mysterious demise of the Maya. Beholding the Pyramid of the Magician we are perplexed at the engineering, architectural, and social heights of the Maya and their myriad accomplishments before continuing on to lunch where a delicious earth cooked banana leaf wrapped meal of Pollo and Cochinita Pibil awaits. A family run affair, our friends will demonstrate the seasoning and methods involved in preparation of this delicious fare that takes over 2 hours to cook. Following lunch, we will be treated to an intimate visit to a local Maya family where age old traditions are still maintained; we will learn about their daily life as related and translated from Maya to Spanish to English! In the afternoon after lunch, we will return to the Hacienda where you will divide up into teams and set out to search for a variety of clues that will draw on all that we have learned so far of this magical region. You will need a combination of intellectual acuity, mental fortitude, physical prowess and creativity! Dinner will be at the hotel tonight. Day 3

Celestun - After a hearty breakfast, we will head to the UNESCO world heritage site and World Biosphere Reserve of Celestun. Our speedy launches will navigate the winding canals of this vast mangrove and wet lands complex arriving to visit the permanent colony of Pink Flamingos that make their home here. We return to the boat dock and the town of Celestun for a delicious treat of local seafood delights under the shade of our thatched roof palapa restaurant on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico before returning to the Hacienda. After lunch, we continue on a brief historic city tour including Merida’s colonial architecture, churches, and monuments of this thriving Yucatan city ending with a short “Calesa” ride. Day 4

Temozon - Tixkokob-Izamal - Chichen Itza - Today we will start with a visit to the traditional Maya village of Tixkokob to see how local families still practice the age old tradition of Hammock weaving. Afterward, you will continue on to the magical city of Izamal to have lunch and explore the mysterious Yellow City including and interesting cruise in a calesa (horse drawn carriage) before continuing your lodging (1:30) nestled in the garden on the UNESCO heritage site of Chichen Itza. Day 5

Chichen Itza-Cenote - Riviera Maya- Today we will enter the famed archeological site of Chichen Itza upon its opening to learn about its impressive plazas, imposing ball courts, and temples as well as the Maya’s engineering, agricultural, and astronomical achievements. Despite the crush of visitation, Chichen Itza still maintains its grandeur. We will depart the archeological site just as the crowds are arriving and enjoy lunch and swim in a Cenote to cool off. The Yucatan Peninsula is a limestone shelf; due to the lack of elevation and the incredible porosity of the soil, there are no rivers in the Yucatan! As water drains easily through the limestone, it forms a vast network of underground rivers and sink holes that feature crystal clear water, eye-less fish, and interesting stalagmites and stalactites and offers an unusual swimming adventure in the distilled light of these underground caves! After our refreshing swim and lunch we will continue on to the lesser visited Mayan archeological site of Ek-Balam before making our way to your stunning luxury hotel located on the idyllic Caribbean Coast with its crystalline blue waters. Day 6

Riviera Maya – Sian Ka’an – Riviera Maya - After breakfast, we will transfer (1:30) to one of the most extensive and important protected areas and UNESCO world heritage site of Sian Ka’an (Where the Sky is born in Maya) and set out with our local Maya naturalist guides to appreciate the flora and fauna in the mangrove and wetland estuaries. We will disembark from our speedy launches and effortlessly float through the peaceful waterways to fully understand the origin of the Maya birthplace of the Sky. We will continue on for a delicious lunch on the beach before returning northwards along the coast to our lovely seaside hotel. Day 7

Mexican Caribbean! - After breakfast, you will transfer to the marina to board our own private boat to explore the exquisite reefs and crystalline water of the Mexican Caribbean. We return for lunch on your own before our farewell fiesta including a beach barbeque (weather permitting)! Overnight Fairmont Mayakoba Deluxe Casita Room Breakfast and Dinner Included

Day 8

Departure - You will transfer to the Cancun Airport (:45 mins) for your homeward bound flight according to your flight schedule. Breakfast Included
