Gray whales have gathered in San Ignacio for centuries to calve, cavort, and relax before heading north to their Arctic feeding grounds.
See first hand how these beautiful cetaceans have touched the hearts of countless individuals. With a short skiff ride out into the lagoon prepare to experience a Gray Whale surfacing just a few feet from your skiff. You will be amazed by the urge to reach out and touch this extraordinary animal.
Kayak through the fertile mangrove estuaries where the keen bird watcher will see a number a different species in this natural aviary. Beachcomb the peaceful lagoon shore and discover shells, fossils, and other remnants of the sea.
Our chartered flight will deliver you into this remote desert world. Accommodations at the water’s edge provide a comfortable wilderness experience with all the amenities of home. You will find our exceptionally experienced staff always ready to lend a hand or share their knowledge of this remarkable place.

Wilderness first responder, CPR, First Aid Certified, bi-lingual Journey Mexico in country guide throughout; all accommodations starting with Day 1 and ending on Day 4 airport transfers; all transfers throughout starting from hotel in San Diego on Day 1 and ending in the San Diego Hotel on Day 5; certified, bi-lingual naturalist kayak guides, single and/or double kayaks; all kayaking gear; camping equipment; all meals; camping (based on twin share) and meals while camping; local guides.
International flights, airport taxes, immigration card ($17 U.S.), accommodation preceding Day 1 in Laguna San Ignacio and following Day 4 in Laguna San Ignacio, gratuities to trip leader, local guides, cook and wait staff in Laguna San Ignacio 10% - 15% of total trip cost recommended depending on service. Meet at 7 am in San Diego at the Hanalei Hotel in Hotel Circle. Transfer to airport for chartered flight to lagoon. Flight stops in San Felipe, Baja CA, Mexico for customs and immigration. Mid afternoon arrival at the lagoon airstrip. Bus to camp and introduction to camp procedures, tent assignments and gather for happy hour before dinner.
Days are spent whale watching, hiking, bird watching, kayaking, or relaxing in camp.
Transfer to landing strip. Board charter flight back to San Diego for an early evening arrival. We suggest you overnight in San Diego in case of delays.
