ABOUT ZACHZach Rabinor
Journey Mexico co-founder and president, Zach Rabinor, was seduced early on by Mexico's vibrant cultures, towering peaks, thundering surf and intoxicating cuisine. Zach has vast experience as an overland adventure guide and is an ecotourism specialist with a B.A. from Cornell University and an M.P.I.A. from the University of California, San Diego in International Affairs and Environmental Policy. Zach worked as a teacher, an environmental educator and an outdoor adventure guide throughout the Americas for over eight years before he returned to the U.S. to study the impacts of tourism on development in Latin America. He has also played a role in mobilizing local support for environmentally sustainable alternative businesses in Baja California, Mexico through his work with Wildcoast, an environmental nonprofit focused on coastal conservation. An invited speaker at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Tourism in Cuiaba Brazil in August of 2001, Zach is committed to using tourism as a tool for equitable and environmentally sensitive development. Zach speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese and some French and is a certified wilderness first responder. Zach’s passion for Mexico grows ever-stronger as he continues to explore remote, off-the-beaten path areas of Mexico. When not designing new itineraries or leading exploratory expeditions, Zach can be found lazing in a hammock on the beloved Pacific Coast near Puerto Vallarta or searching for the best sea food cocktail in Mexico.
