2014 Year in Review

With the incredible support of our partners, suppliers, and clients, 2014 was a record breaking year for Journey Mexico!

Pushing ahead after a very eventful 2013, the year started off in peak-travel season and never seemed to let up. Due to high-demand, Journey Mexico welcomed a total of 13 new staff members. In Operations we welcomed Alejandro, Inaki, Mario, and Olivier to the Cancun office; in Sales and Groups we welcomed Mabel (DF), Isabel and Lindsay (PV), Jorge, Mariana A., and Mariana G. (CUN); and in Marketing and Administration we welcomed Lillian and Paulina (DF) and Paola (PV).

Our most exciting news came in  August when we opened our third office in Mexico’s vibrant capital, Mexico City. The new office, located right in front  of the city’s landmark,  El Ángel de la Independencia, started off with just the marketing team and quickly grew to also house operations and sales to better serve the growing number of travelers arriving or passing through Mexico City.

Spearheading the new office was our new Director of Marketing, Lillian Aviles,  who wasted no time settling in and has already  taken the city by storm developing unique VIP product and positioning the company for exponential regional growth.  Already having traveled to luxury trade shows in London, Vegas,  Marrakech, and Paris representing Journey Mexico, Lillian has helped the team in surpassing our 2014 goals.

This year we put special emphasis on site inspections and quality control in order to ensure Journey Mexico standards. Part of these efforts included  two successful FAM trips and in addition to training our staff we also brought 21 travel industry professionals from seven different countries to familiarize themselves with different regions of Mexico. In May, we covered Colonial Mexico and the Pacific Coast; and in September we ventured Southern Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula. Throughout both trips, we broadcasted every step live via social media and welcomed over 500 virtual participants!

This year Journey Mexico also gratefully received international recognition from Travel + Leisure, Travel Weekly, Travel Age West, Town & Country Magazine, and Inc 5000. and was named by Wendy Perrin as the Destination Specialist for Mexico on her Wow List. For travel affiliations, we proudly joined LATA Nordic, Traveller Made DMC Partner, American Express’ Crafted Journey Partner, and Travel Leaders In-Country Partners.

Finally, Journey Mexico is happy to report that not only was it a great year for us, but it was a great year for Mexico overall. The number of international tourists exceeded 14.2 million, a new record!

Thank you to everyone who has accompanied us along this journey and we very much look forward to welcoming all of our travelers in 2015! We wish our entire community a joyous and prosperous New Year!
